COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– Hundreds of people in the Colorado Springs community took advantage of Saturday’s nice weather to give back to the community.

They were at the Air Force Academy Falcon Stadium running up and down the bleacher stairs to raise money.

It’s all part of the second annual Climb for Courage event put together by Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Participants raise a registration donation and all of the money will be used to build a new facility here in southern Colorado.

They say it would be the only comprehensive children’s hospital in the region.

“We are really lucky to have some of the best doctors in the nation right here in Colorado Springs, and we want to make sure that we have a facility that can serve those physicians and our kids,” board member Sally Hybl said.

Along with building the new children’s hospital, donations also help purchase child-sized medical equipment, hire staff and help low-income families afford treatment.
