State Patrol looking for witnesses in fatal motorcycle crash in Monument

MONUMENT, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol is asking any witnesses of a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday to contact them.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 25, near milepost 161 in El Paso County. Troopers said 28-year-old Marc Pulfrey of Colorado Springs was on the ramp from Monument to southbound Interstate 25 when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left.

The 2010 Ducati motorcycle overturned and slid into a guardrail, ejecting Pulfrey.

Pulfrey suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Troopers said a helmet was found at the scene but investigators are looking into whether or not the helmet was being properly worn at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and/or drug use is not considered to be a factor, but the crash is still under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Eric Zachareas at 719-544-2424.
