PUEBLO, Colo. — The officer who shot and killed a suspect in last week’s officer-involved shooting has been identified as Michael Bellamy. He has been with the Pueblo Police Department for nearly a year.

On Friday, June 10, Bellamy responded to the 3100 block of West 27th Street to assist the Department of Corrections Fugitive Unit as they searched for a parole violator.

Bellamy chased a man, later identified as Bobby Sanchez, 32, who fled the area on foot. It was during the chase that Sanchez took out a handgun and was shot by Officer Bellamy.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is still actively investigating the incident.
