Man dies while in custody of Fountain police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Local authorities are aiding the Fountain Police Department in an investigation surrounding the in-custody death of an individual.

Jeremy Thompson, 45, was placed into police custody on Tuesday morning after he was uncooperative with officers when they responded to a disturbance in the area of Prado Drive and Carson Boulevard.

While being placed into custody, police say Thompson became unresponsive and required medical attention. He was brought to a local hospital where he later died.

The Fountain Police Department, Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes unit and the 4th Judicial District Attorney are all investigating the incident.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has yet to determine the cause of death.
