PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — One person has been arrested after deputies found a “commercial-grade” illegal marijuana grow in a Pueblo West home. This is the eighth illegal marijuana bust made by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office in the past month.

Eric Arroyo, 59, was arrested Friday. He’s charged with marijuana cultivation and unlawful extraction of marijuana concentrate.

Deputies said a tip from a concerned resident led them to the home on Kiva Drive. When they searched the home, they found 170 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Deputies said the plants were growing in three separate basement rooms under high-powered lights, industrial-strength air conditioners, sophisticated irrigation, temperature and timing systems, and recorded classical music playing in two of the rooms.

Deputies also found a butane hash oil operation that included commercial-grade ovens and extraction equipment set up in the garage, along with several boxes of glass jars and packaging materials.

Deputies estimate the value of the equipment in the operation at more than $200,000.

Deputies believe Arroyo was taking the marijuana and hash oil out of state for sale. They said he has ties to Florida and California, and has rented the home in Pueblo West for two years.

Deputies said Arroyo’s grow operation was the most elaborate found in Pueblo County so far.
