Moms hope to raise awareness about cloth diapers by breaking a record

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Baby Cotton Bottoms in Colorado Springs hosted an event on Saturday to raise awareness about cloth diapers.

They invited moms and their babies to help them break the world record for most kids being changed into a cloth diaper at one time.

For six years, they’ve taken part in the attempt with hundreds of other groups around the world.

They pick a time, and when it strikes the hour, they all change their babies simultaneously.

They say it’s a fun experience, but that the main priority of this event is to get more parents using cloth diapers.

“They think it will take about 250 to 500 years for a disposable diaper to biodegrade in a landfill. We’ve never seen a disposable diaper ever biodegrade since they’ve been invented, and a cloth diaper doesn’t do that. One little diaper will last through multiple children,” shop manager Shanda Lloyd said.

The world record is 8,459 babies changed at one time.

The group has helped break that record the last three out of six years, but unfortunately, this year they fell a little short.
