Walsenburg man killed in crash on Highway 160

WALSENBURG, Colo. — A Walsenburg man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 160 Thursday night.

The Colorado State patrol said the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. about 14 miles west of Walsenburg. A Dodge pickup truck was headed westbound when it drifted into the eastbound lanes and hit a 2012 Chevrolet hatchback head-on. After the crash, the truck caught fire and rolled. The car went off the left shoulder.

The driver of the truck, 33-year-old Maximiliano Delacruz-Munoz of Walsenburg, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver of the car, 20-year-old Mason Lykins of Walsenburg, was killed in the crash.

The passenger of the car, 36-year-old Alfonso Aguirre of La Junta, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Troopers said none of the people involved were wearing their seatbelts.

Troopers said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
