Public invited to screening of film about human trafficking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The public is invited to a free film screening about human trafficking Thursday at Centennial Hall.

“Dreamcatcher” is an award-winning film about a former teen prostitute who was recruiting other men, women, and children for sex trafficking. The goal of the event is to expose the hidden world of human trafficking in our community.

“We’ll have many different agencies participating, from the sheriff’s office to the Colorado Springs police department, Department of Human Services, and many others that are really key to helping us understand what is our local problem,” Susan Wheelan of El Paso County Public Health said.

Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m., and the film begins at 5:30. The movie is appropriate for people high-school aged or older.
