First state wrestling champ for Sproul Junior High

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sproul Junior High has a state wrestling champ.

Jared Volcic is the first state champ at Sproul Junior High and first district junior high school state champ.

Volcic won the 14 and under 198 weight class title in the beginning of April, and said it takes a lot of mental toughness to be a good wrestler.

Now that he won states, he hopes to go even further with his wrestling career.

“I want to become an Olympic wrestler and train with all these really good wrestlers, and if that doesn’t work, then fall back and become a police officer or something like that,” Volcic said.

Volcic also said he looks up to his dad and brother who are both wrestlers and will train hard this summer so he can make the varsity wrestling team his freshman year of high school.
