Military Matters: Boecore supporting local military

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —  “Boecore is a great family environment,” said Gary Kerkow, the chief operating officer. “It’s a growing company, it has a tremendous amount of energy and it has a tremendous amount of opportunity for people to join the company.”

The aerospace and defense contracting company headquartered in Colorado Springs focuses on cyber security, software, and systems engineering, along with mission operations.

“We do business with Air Force, Army, the Missile Defense Agency, Department of Homeland Security and United States Cyber Command,” said Kathy Boe, the CEO and founder of Boecore.

The company employs roughly 40 percent former military, many of which are local.

“They bring a lot of discipline and work ethic and just that kind of environment that we need to be successful and deliver to our customers,” said president Tom Dickson.

With Colorado Springs being such a large military community, the economic impact is substantial.

“The military influence and economic impact in Colorado Springs is about $12.4 billion a year,” said Kerkow. “That’s a big number, 50 cents of every labor dollar in Colorado Springs. The source of that is from the military and military spending.”

Boecore, however, said the bottom line of the company is to support those men and women who have selflessly served our country.

“I think it’s really important, given the nature of the military that is here in Colorado Springs, that we support them, that we as a community support them,” said Boe.
