COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sky Sox owner David Elmore announced at a San Antonio City Council meeting Thursday that he plans on moving the team to Texas for the 2019 season. But despite the declaration, it’s not a done deal.

The San Antonio mayor’s office confirms to FOX21 that Elmore Group owners talked about the move in the meeting Thursday. However, this move depends on San Antonio getting approved to build a downtown stadium, which still needs to be voted on.

“Certainly on their end they need to work through the relocation and we don’t have anything to do with that, and on our end, we need to look at potential sites and gather more information on the costs,” San Antonio mayor Ivy Taylor said.

The Sky Sox confirmed Thursday night that it is not a foregone conclusion the team will be leaving. At this point, a lot of things need to happen. They say they are committed to playing in the Springs for the foreseeable future.
