Bigfoot Fridays

Bigfoot will be making appearances around Colorado Springs on Fridays.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado is home to a lot of wildlife. But Friday, visitors to Pikes Peak caught a glimpse of a mysterious creature that’s rarely spotted.

“Some visitors have spotted a brown creature going back and forth in the woods, kind of in this general area here,” said Brenda Wilson, a ranger on Pikes Peak Highway.

Rangers stopped cars to warn them.

“They said there was an unusual sighting to see. An animal that they have never seen before,” said Linda Palmer, who was visiting the area from South Carolina.

“I’m hoping it’s Bigfoot because I’d like to see him,” said Wilson.

A sign on Pikes Peak Highway has been warning visitors to be on the lookout for Bigfoot for years and Friday he finally made his appearance.

“To be honest I thought it was going to be an elk or something of that nature, but this is wonderful. Awesome,” said Palmer.

“We just wanted to have some fun with this and interact with the tourists and people coming up Pikes Peak Highway,” said Chelsy Offutt, Director of Communications for the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Visitors were also given beef jerky and a card telling them to share their experience online.

“It was funny. I was like this is adorable,” said Palmer.

“With the hashtag it’s something we can track. It’s a fun thing people will see,” said Offutt. “Hopefully it builds momentum. We have so much to do here in the Pikes Peak region that people just don’t realize.”

Bigfoot will be making appearances at Colorado Springs attractions every Friday.

“Garden of the Gods, maybe the Cliff Dwellings. People just need to keep their eyes peeled,” said Offutt.

So catch him if you can.

“You never know where he’s going to pop up,” said Offutt.

Anyone who spots Bigfoot and posts a photo using the hashtag #BFFCOS will be entered to win prizes from the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.
