Tennis twins swinging for the win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Air Force women’s tennis team is getting ready to start their conference play this weekend.

There are two juniors on the court that grew up playing tennis, and share more than just their passion for the sport.

From a distance these two girls just look like talented tennis players, but as you get closer you start to notice some similarities.

“We usually try not to tell people we are twins because they get us mixed up and as soon as we say we are twins, they start to say, ‘Which one is Chloe? Which one is Lily?’” Chloe Forlini said.

Chloe and Lily are fraternal twins. Lily is the older one.

“Ten minutes more of love,” Lily said.

But with jokes aside, their love and affection for each other is undeniable.

“I say it’s a built-in best friend,” Lily said.

“You know no matter what she will always be there for you,” Chloe said.

When the girls were looking to go away to school, they only had one requirement.

“Colleges would say, ‘We have one spot on the team. Would one of you want to come?’ and I would say, ‘No, sorry, we are a package deal,’” Chloe said.

It’s a deal Air Force Academy head coach Kim Gidley was happy to accept.

“I think the unique thing about them is when one gets a 94 the other gets a 93 when we do our fitness test, one got 92 sit-ups and the other 93 sit-ups. It’s nonstop competition,” Gidley said.

Gidley had never coached twins on the same team until the Forlinis, but now she says if she could, she’d recruit more.

“They have each other’s back and they compete with each other and they make each other better and if I had a whole team that could make each other better like that on a daily basis, man, you better watch out,” Gidley said.

The twins don’t play doubles together on the Falcons team, but they still support each other throughout the entire match.

“One time I was watching her and I thought her girl cheated her and I ran on the court just because I was so emotional. I say with Chloe it’s just really emotional. I just want her to do her best,” Lily said.

“I just love being a twin,” Chloe said.

Chloe wants to apply to medical school to be an OB/GYN, and Lily wants to go to pilot school.
But they’re looking for schools near each other because they don’t want to be too far away from their other half.
