Police: Man admits to taking items from cars in downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man admitted to officers that he took items from cars in downtown Colorado Springs Wednesday night, according to police.

Police said around 9:15 p.m., two officers tried to make contact with a bicyclist in Acacia Park. The bicyclist eluded the officers, riding against traffic on Bijou Street. Eventually, one officer saw the suspect in an alcove along the alley near the downtown YMCA. Officers saw that the suspect, 24-year-old Channing Curry, had items that are commonly taken from cars.

Officers interviewed Curry and he admitted to taking items from more than one car, according to police.

Curry is charged with first-degree criminal trespass.
