COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Here’s the latest on the snowstorm moving through the Pikes Peak region.

Traffic impacts

CDOT is reporting wet highways with snow and icy spots across Colorado.

A traction law is in effect on the following roads in southern Colorado. ALL vehicles must use snow tires, chains or four-wheel drive.

  • Highway 24 from Wilkerson Pass to Woodland Park
  • Highway 67 from Cripple Creek to Divide

Event cancellations

The Royal Gorge Easter sunrise service that was scheduled for Sunday morning has been cancelled due to the weather.

Accident alert

The Colorado Springs Police Department and Fountain Police Department are on accident alert. If you are involved in a traffic accident that meets the following conditions, you should exchange your information with the other drivers and complete a cold report within 72 hours.

  • No fatalities or injuries
  • No driver or passenger is suspected of driving under the influence
  • All drivers are present with license, registration and insurance information
  • No damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred

In Colorado Springs, go to a police department substation or coloradosprings.gov .

In Fountain, go to the Fountain Police Department, any state patrol office, or crash.state.co.us .


Forecast

Pueblo, Fremont, and Teller counties are under a winter weather advisory until 9 p.m. Saturday.

Pueblo, Fremont, Alamosa, Chaffee, Costilla, Custer, Huerfano, Las Animas, and Saguache counties are under a winter storm warning until midnight Saturday.

Snow will fall Saturday morning then slow down in El Paso County. As you head south on I-25, snowy and icy conditions will persist on Saturday afternoon. This system is going to significantly impact the southern portion of the region.

Much colder on Saturday as temps will only be in the 20s and 30s.

It will be partly cloudy Easter Sunday with temps in the 40s and 50s.
