New traffic pattern in place at I-25/Fillmore interchange

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A unique interchange at Fillmore Street and Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs is now open to drivers.

The diverging diamond interchange is one-of-a-kind in southern Colorado, and only the third to be used in the state.

The Colorado Department of Transportation was out Friday helping drivers understand the new system, which has been in the works since last winter. Officials said the interchange will help move traffic along in the small area. It will also help drivers access Interstate 25 more easily.

Crews will be out there until this summer to add some finishing touches to the interchange.
