$10 prom dress sale benefits Urban Peak

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Hundreds of people scored a great deal on prom dresses Sunday, and helped out homeless youth at the same time.

The line was out the door at this year’s $10 Prom Dress Expo, which was sponsored by iHeartRadio stations My 99.9 and 96.1 The Beat.

The sale benefits Urban Peak, a nonprofit organization that helps youth in our community who are experiencing homelessness.

This is the third year for the event, and organizers said each year it gets bigger and better.

“We’ve got hundreds and hundreds of dresses, and they come from everywhere in the community,” Urban Peak development officer Andrea Thomson said. “People were dropping them off even this morning. Some people even brought dresses with them, so they came to buy more dresses and to make a donation of dresses, which is excellent.”

The event typically raises around $4,000 for Urban Peak, but the organization says the awareness raised during the event is priceless.
