Saturday morning standoff ends peacefully

A Tactical Enforcement unit responded to the scene to help during the nearly three hour standoff.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A standoff Saturday morning ended peacefully after a nearly three hour wait.

It started around 9 a.m. in the 5500 Block of Calamity Jane Lane, near Peterson Road and Stetson Hills Boulevard.

According to Colorado Springs police 32-year-old Yareem Barnes-Ivy barricaded himself inside his home after threatening his wife while armed with a handgun. She and a small child were able to get out of the house but Barnes-Ivy refused to leave.

The Tactical Enforcement Unit was called in to help.

Around 11:30 a.m. Barnes-Ivy exited the home and was taken into custody. He is being charged with felony menacing, harassment and child abuse.
