Grass fire south of downtown may have been intentionally set

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police say a grass fire that burned a small area south of downtown Friday afternoon may have been intentionally set.

The fire was started around 4:30 p.m. in a field east of the intersection of South Weber Street and Writers Way. That’s off Fountain Boulevard south of downtown. Firefighters were able to contain the fire within the field.

Investigators said the fire started in several places, and they believe it could have been intentionally set. No suspects have been identified.
