Woman arrested on car theft charges in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A woman was arrested on car theft charges while shopping at a sporting goods store in northern Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

Police said around 6 p.m., an officer saw a stolen car on Creek Legend View, which is in the Security-Widefield area. Officers determined the car was a suspect vehicle in a recent identity theft spree.

Police followed the car to the north side of Colorado Springs. The driver parked it at the Sports Authority on North Academy Boulevard at Briargate Parkway and went inside. While she was shopping, police arrested her.

The suspect was identified as Tiffany Ann Zalen-McMahon, 34. She’s charged with motor vehicle theft and possession of a controlled substance.
