Truck hits car head-on in crash on Highway 50

CAÑON CITY, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday night on Highway 50. State Patrol said it happened around 7:30 p.m. near mile post 272 in Fremont County.

Officials said a pickup truck was heading eastbound in the wrong lane and collided head-on with an Escalade.

The driver of the truck was identified as 79-year-old Esequiel Garduno of Pueblo. He died at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac has been identified as 50-year-old Michael Adams of Colorado Springs. He was flown to St. Mary Corwin in Pueblo with serious injuries.

His passenger suffered minor injuries. Two small children were also in the car, but they were not injured. Everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
