U.S. Forest Service hiring 500 employees for non-fire-related seasonal jobs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Region of the U.S. Forest Service is hiring temporary employees for various positions across 17 national forests and seven national grasslands located in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

Temporary positions are available in a variety of occupations, including trails, forestry, engineering, wildlife, recreation, fisheries, archaeology and administrative support. The hiring phase will be Feb. 2-8 for seasonal, non-fire positions.

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest and Pawnee National Grassland will advertise approximately 35 temporary positions including archaeology technicians, Fisheries, Hydrologic Technicians, Forestry Technicians, Visitor Information Assistants, Information Receptionists, Biological Science Aids, Timber, Range Technicians, Trails, and Recreation.

The Bighorn National Forest will advertise approximately 37 temporary positions including Fisheries, Roads, Facilities, Engineering Equipment Operators, Plants, Hydrologic Technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Wildlife, Recreation, Range, and Wilderness/Trails.

The Black Hills National Forest will advertise approximately 59 temporary positions including Engineering Aids, Facilities, Survey Aid, Archaeology Technicians, Hydrologic Technicians, Recreations, Noxious Weeds, Plants, Wildlife, Timber, Visitor Information Assistants, Biological Science Aids, Trails, Range, Forestry Aids, Wilderness, and Laborers.

The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest will advertise approximately 42 temporary positions including Engineering Equipment Operators, Customer Service Representatives, Wildlife, Recreation, Trails, Timber, Plants, Forestry Aid, Noxious Weeds, Social Service Aids, and Range.

The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and Thunder Basin National Grassland will advertise approximately 100 temporary positions including Engineering Equipment Operator, Laborer, Archaeology Technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Hydrologic Technicians, Recreation, Trails, Timber, Wildlife, Range, Fisheries, and Information Receptionists.

The Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands will advertise approximately 12 temporary positions including Recreation, Wildlife, Range, and Visitor Information Assistant.

The Pike and San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron and Comanche Grasslands will advertise approximately 80 temporary positions including Hydrologic Technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Physical Science Technicians, Animal Packer, Range, Recreation, Wilderness/Trails, Park Ranger, Visitor Information Assistants, Office Automation Clerks, Timber, and Archaeology Technicians.

The Rio Grande National Forest will advertise approximately 13 temporary positions including Laborers, Timber, Recreation, Trails, and Wildlife.

The San Juan National Forest will advertise approximately 29 temporary positions including Hydrologic Technicians, Noxious Weeds, Range, Recreation, Wilderness/Trails, Timber, Engineering Equipment Operator Helper, Park Ranger, and Motor Vehicle Operator.

The Shoshone National Forest will advertise approximately 50 temporary positions including Cartographic Technician, Range, Recreation, Timber, Wildlife, Hydrologic Technicians, Office Automation Clerks, and Engineering Technicians.

The White River National Forest will advertise approximately 69 temporary positions ranging from Forestry Technicians, Wilderness, Visitor Information Assistants, Biology Technicians, Range Technicians, Engineer Equipment Operators, and Customer Service Assistants.
