Theft suspect who escaped from police car arrested in Colorado Springs

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. — Police have arrested a theft suspect who escaped from a police car in Woodland Park early Friday morning.

Police said around 2:30 a.m., they arrested four people in connection with thefts at Walmart. While officers were investigating the thefts, one of the suspects escaped from the back seat of a patrol car and ran eastbound. Police said the suspect, 34-year-old Tammara Martin, was under arrest, and was wearing black handcuffs.

Police sent out an alert Friday morning asking the public to be on the lookout for Martin. A few hours later, she was arrested when she returned to the area of her home in Colorado Springs. Police also found a stolen van that was associated with Martin.
