CSPD K9 helps arrest motor vehicle theft suspect

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A CSPD K9 helped arrested a motor vehicle theft suspect who was hiding in the backyard of a home Thursday night.

Police said around 11 p.m., an officer spotted a stolen vehicle in the 500-block of North Murray Boulevard. The officer tried to pull the car over, but it didn’t stop. Instead, it went into a neighborhood near Murray Boulevard and Moffat Circle. Police found the car abandoned in the 1300-block of Moffat Circle.

Police found footprints leading away from the car. They conducted a K9 track, and K9 Ozzie found the suspect hiding in a backyard in the 1300-block of Moffat Circle.

The suspect, 38-year-old Corina Wright, was jailed on charges of motor vehicle theft and vehicular eluding.
