Police looking for victims in privacy charge at King Soopers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Dec. 7 the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Special Victims section, Crimes Against Children Unit, received report of a white adult male who was observed walking around a King Soopers videotaping adult and juvenile females.

According to police, the suspect was captured by the King Soopers’ video surveillance system using covert methods to videotape victim shoppers who were wearing shorts or skirts.

On Dec. 10, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the 54-year-old Darrell Colwell for the charge of privacy 18-3-405.6, a class six felony. The detectives also obtained and executed a search warrant on the suspect’s residence to recover items evidence.

The incidents occurred between 5 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 and Dec. 3.

The security staff from the Kings Soopers, located at 3620 Austin Bluffs Parkway, have been outstanding in their cooperation and in providing video evidence, however CSPD has only been able to identify one juvenile victim from the provided video.
