Police looking for burglary suspect who hit police car, drove through four yards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police are looking for a burglary suspect who hit a police car and then drove off a retaining wall and through four yards while leading police on a chase Thursday morning.

Police said it happened around 8 a.m. on Platte Avenue near Prospect Street. Officers were called to the area to investigate a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found the suspect in the alley. He refused to comply with police commands, got into his car, and intentionally backed into the side of a police cruiser. He then drove through several fences, off a retaining wall, and through the front yards of four homes on Platte Avenue, causing significant damage.

The first officer’s cruiser was disabled, but another officer chased the the suspect until he lost sight of him. Other officers then chased the suspect, but were unable to catch him.

No officers were in the police cruiser when it was hit. No injuries were reported.

Police are still working to identify the suspect.
