Man accused of robbing, threatening Walmart clerk

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man is facing multiple charges after he robbed a Walmart clerk and threatened to shoot her Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police said the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the store in the area of North Union Boulevard and Constitution Avenue. A man, later identified as 44-year-old Wendell Jonas Hubbard, entered the store and began hiding items in his clothes. He then tried to get cash from a customer service clerk. A struggle ensued, and the suspect yelled that he was going to shoot the clerk. The clerk relinquished the cash, and Hubbard left in a car headed southbound on Union, according to police.

Police caught Hubbard in the 600-block of North Union. Officers determined that he was wanted on a probation violation and a warrant out of Mesa County. He was also driving without a license. In addition to those charges, he’s charged with robbery.
