UCHealth returns $1.3 million to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A UCHealth lease agreement is returning nearly $1.3 million to the city of Colorado Springs.

The check comes because UCHealth met their financial benchmark and more for the 2015 fiscal year.

Not only is that bonus check going back to the city, but the hospital itself is seeing upgrades as well. Chief Medical Officer Patrick Faricy said aside from adding more private rooms for patients and a new radiation treatment facility, the hospital is also seeing more patients in less time.

“We’ve redesigned our process in the emergency department, and now we have patients seeing a doctor on an average of less than eight minutes,” Faricy said.

Faricy said they’ve also decreased their fall rate at the hospital by more than 65 percent, and increased their protocol when it comes to patient support.
