Police arrest man accused of climbing through sleeping girl’s window, trying to sexually assault her

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — UPDATE: On Dec. 3 members of El Paso County SWAT located and arrested Robert O’Bryant.

O’Bryant is a 55-year-old male resident of El Paso County. He was taken into custody on the charges of sexual assault on a child, class 4 felony, second degree burglary, class 4 felony, first degree criminal trespass, class 5 felony, and multiple counts of indecent exposure, class 1 misdemeanor.

A photograph of O’Bryant will not be released as there are pending photographic lineups necessary to the investigation which still need to be completed. As soon as they are completed the photograph will be released.


Police are looking for the man who climbed through a sleeping girl’s window and tried to sexually assault her Monday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 2 a.m. at the Canyon Ridge Mobile Home Park in the area of Airport Road and South Powers Boulevard. A girl was sleeping when she was awoken by a knocking sound at her bedroom window. A man climbed through the window, asked the girl her name, and tried to pull her underwear down. The victim screamed. The man threatened her, then climbed back out the window.

The victim’s father heard the girl scream and went to the bedroom, where he saw that the window was open and the suspect had left.

Police said a light-colored minivan, possibly a Ford or a Mercury, was seen in the area about 20 minutes before the attempted assault. After the attempted assault, the suspect was seen running toward the area where the van was last seen.

The suspect is described as a white man, 40 to 50 years old, with a medium to heavy build. He is bald with a pronounced stocky neck and facial hair on his chin. He walks with a limp.

Police believe the suspect has been involved in several other crimes, including indecent exposure.
