Three Sand Creek athletes sign to D1 schools

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tuesday was signing day for three athletes from Sand Creek High School–and all of the girls are heading to D-1 schools next year.

Two of the girls play basketball, and the other plays soccer.

All of them said they’re excited their hard work has finally paid off.

“It’s a lot of work,” soccer player Tarah Patterson, who signed with Washington State, said. “A lot of hours outside of practice.”

“I really hope to do really well at the school, and I’m just really excited, but nervous at the same time,” basketball player Liah Davis, who signed with Colorado State University, said.

Basketball player Oliana Squires signed with Montana State.

Less than 1 percent of athletes get scholarships to play sports after high school.
