Four dead, including gunman, after shooting near downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — On Oct. 31 around 8:45 a.m. shots were fired in the 200 block of North Prospect Street.

According to police, the suspect fired at officers and the officers fired back. Four officers were involved, none were injured, but there is damage to a Colorado Springs Police Department vehicle. The officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave due to CSPD policy.

Police can now confirm the suspect is dead, in addition to three others.

The following roads are closed: Platte Avenue from Corona Street to Weber Street, both east and westbound lanes are closed. Wasatch Street from Kiowa Street to Boulder Street both north and southbound lanes are closed. Prospect Street from Bijou Street to Platte Avenue. It is anticipated these roads will be closed for at least the next six to ten hours.

The investigation will transfer to the sheriff’s office due to state law.
