Trade in children’s books for temporary vampire fangs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Broadmoor Dental has offered free vampire fangs for years now, but this year Dr. Nicolas Pruett is doing things differently and teaming up with Helen Hunt Elementary School.

Anyone from 17-90 years old can come in and receive vampire fangs in return for children’s books.

“The biggest part is that children are recognizing that somebody’s out there for them and pulling for them,” said Trudi Oliphant, a 4th grade teacher at Helen Hunt Elementary School, who mentions the school is in need of books.

That’s why Dr. Pruett is offering a trade of two children’s books for a set of vampire fangs, which are put on in a quick five minutes.

“I use a composite material, which is used for fillings and I aesthetically create vampire teeth that actually work with your face and it makes it look extremely real,” Dr. Pruett said.

He said it’s a way for him to help out the local community while continuing his vampire fang tradition.

“The kiddos at elementary school really didn’t have a whole bunch of options for books. I think it’s kind of like a dying art for us not have a book in our hands anymore,” Oliphant said.

You can get your own set of vampire fangs starting Saturday Oct. 31st from 8 a.m. until noon at Broadmoor Dental.

The custom temporary vampire fangs can last for a full day if you do not eat with them on and can be easily removed, but you must be at least 18 years old to receive the fangs.

Broadmoor Dental is looking for gently used children’s books appropriate for K through 5.
