SUV crashes into building after driver suffers medical emergency

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — An SUV crashed into a building after its driver had a medical emergency Tuesday night. The driver, a 64-year-old man from Colorado Springs, died in the incident, according to police.

Police said the incident happened around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Rangewood Drive. Witnesses reported seeing a 2001 Ford SUV headed northbound on Austin Bluffs. The SUV went into oncoming traffic, jumped a curb, and ran into the side of a former 7-Eleven store that’s currently empty.

Witnesses told police the driver had a medical emergency before the crash. He died during the incident. The cause of his death has not yet been determined.

Police said the building sustained minor damage.
