Police recover $149,500 worth of stolen property

PUEBLO, Colo. — On Oct. 14 Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to an address in eastern Pueblo on a report of an auto theft.

According to police, the person reporting the theft stated a 2002 white Dodge Ram diesel truck was taken from his driveway. On Oct. 16, the Sheriff’s Communications Center aired a call stating the owner of the stolen Dodge truck had located it parked in a driveway in the community of Lombard Village.  A PCSO detective in the area responded to the residence and confirmed the vehicle was the victim’s stolen truck.

Throughout the investigation, detectives obtained information about other stolen items and their locations.

Detectives were able to locate a white cargo trailer which matched the description of a reported stolen trailer from Oct. 15 from an address on Burnt Mill Road.  The owner of the cargo trailer responded to the scene and stated items from inside the trailer were missing. The items were described as construction type equipment, a large Honda generator, an air compressor, a welder/generator and miscellaneous other electric hand tools. The estimated value of items stolen was approximately $95,075.00. The owner had also reported a Caterpillar Skid loader and trailer stolen.

On Oct. 17 the skid loader, trailer and welder/generator were located in the 1500 block of Iroquois in Pueblo. Detectives spoke with the resident at the Iroquois address and determined the cases were linked and were able to determine Jose Rodriquez brought the skid loader and trailer to this location.  Detectives were also able to recover the stolen welder/generator at this location.

The investigation continued to guide detectives to additional locations where they retrieved more stolen property reported to both the sheriff’s office and Pueblo Police Department.

To date, the following vehicles and equipment have been recovered: 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pick-up valued at $25,000, 2011 Chevrolet Duramax 3500 pick-up valued at $27,000, 2008 Caterpillar Skid Loader and attachments, a flatbed trailer, an 18’ enclosed cargo trailer, 7000 watt Honda generator, welder-generator, and assorted construction equipment valued at approximately $95,000, a second flatbed trailer valued at approximately $2,500,

The estimated value of recovered stolen property is approximately $149,500

Brandon Lee Romero, 30, has been arrested for two counts of aggravated first degree motor vehicle theft, criminal impersonation and criminal mischief. Jose Eduardo Rodriguez, 21, was arrested for three counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft in the first degree and theft $20,000 to $100,000 class
