Another round of Fort Carson soldiers gets a warm welcome home

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Soldiers from the 3rd Armored Brigade combat team, 4th Infantry Division who were deployed in February got a warm welcome home Wednesday.

The homecoming ceremony was held at the Bill Reed special events center on base.

After being away from their families on a nine-month deployment in southwest Asia, 300 soldiers are back and their loved ones couldn’t be happier to have their heroes home.

“I’m anxious,” Quinton Shelton, who was welcoming his best friend home, said. “I’m just–I don’t know. There’s just a bunch of emotions through me right now.”

And she couldn’t wait to give him a big hug.

“I just screamed,” Spc. Rosalina Hunter said. “He just picked me up.”

She said the emotions she’s feeling can’t be matched.

“I’m excited. I’m really excited to be home, butterflies, everything is going, all of the emotions at once,” said Hunter.

Hunter said the first thing she planned to do was get some Chipotle.

One daddy coming home barely even recognized his little girl.

“Oh man, I couldn’t even tell this was my daughter, she’s grown so much,” Spc. Murphy said. “She just turned three like three days ago.”

Eleven total troops are expected to return home over the next couple months.
