GAGE COUNTY, Neb. — A Colorado Springs woman was killed in a crash in southeastern Nebraska Monday morning.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. Bonnie Goings, 59, of Colorado Springs was in a 2014 Chevrolet Spark that was headed eastbound on Highway 136 when the car hit a deer. The car was disabled and its front lights were damaged. Goings and the other five people in the car got out.

Another vehicle arrived and pulled onto the opposite shoulder to help. Then a third car, a Buick Regal that was headed westbound, approached the scene. The driver saw the vehicle on the shoulder and moved to the left to give it more room, but did not see the Spark in the oncoming lane. The Buick hit the Spark, pushing it into a ditch. Goings was trapped under the Spark, and died on the scene.

Deputies said the five other people in the Spark were hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Deputies said drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
