Community Animal Response Team hosts preparedness event

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Pet owners and animal lovers got a lesson in preparedness Saturday afternoon.

The Community Animal Response Team put together an event to help get their volunteers and pet owners ready for anything. The exercise involved creating two animal shelters–one for companion animals and another for livestock–to house the pets in an emergency situation.

Organizers also demonstrated mock evacuation scenarios to help the volunteers understand what they can do to help when disaster strikes.

The group said they try to do events like this multiple times a year to better prepare themselves and the community.
