CHARLESTON, S.C. — This couple was determined to get married! Their wedding was scheduled for Saturday at the Citadel in Downtown Charleston because both the bride and groom went to school there. Coastal flooding kept them from getting married at the college, but they did not quit.

The groom, John Ravan, said they would get married no matter what. “Someway somehow,” He said.

It was an all-hands-on-deck situation once the Citadel told them they could no longer hold there ceremony downtown. “We had groomsman, we had bridesmaids, we had family they were all reaching out to their contacts,” Ravan listed.

After numerous calls, they found a hotel that agreed to host the wedding. “We are able to move the wedding to a hotel lobby they are being very friendly and going to set it up for us,” Ravan stated optimistically. “It’s going to be a wedding away from where we originally planned, but it’s going to turn out great.”

The groom was in good spirits, but it is no secret that a wedding is the bride’s day. When asked about his bride Ravan stated, “This morning she was a little upset. I mean every girl dreams of her wedding day, but she didn’t want this to get in the way of what we stood for.”

Ravan said their faith is what has allowed them to stay so hopeful. “We both came from real big Christian families” he said. “We want to see Christ prevail today.”

As the rain prevails, so does their wedding. There was a change of plans, but the couple is thankful. “All the support and love that we are getting from our family,” said Ravan. “I think it’s going to turn out great!”

The couple got married yesterday and leaves today for their honeymoon on their first day as husband and wife.
