Switchbacks prepare for their final game of the 2015 regular season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– The Colorado Springs Switchbacks are heading into their final game of the 2015 USL regular season. With the playoffs looming, the team still has a lot to play for.

The Switchbacks will play the LA Galaxy II on Saturday at 7 p.m. and hope to keep that playoff dream alive.

“We had a good stretch during the summer and we were undefeated and eight, nine games and I had feeling then we could go far,” said Steve Trittschuh, head coach for the Switchbacks.

Players are excited to be a part of a first-year team that exceeded expectations.

“When a new franchise comes along and you are a part of it you want to go as far as you can. Right now it’s surreal but at the same time we are taking it by the moment and just taking it as far as we can,” Aaron King, Switchbacks forward, said.

Some of the players said their team chemistry happened fast, helping them get a spot in the playoffs.

“Just setting the attitude from the start the season that we were going to be focused and determined to get better every day,” said Switchbacks Luke Vercollone, who plays center midfield.

With the post season getting closer, the focus is on the last home game of the regular season.

“They’re a team that’s going to come in here. They are hungry to win also, its going to be a playoff atmosphere. I feel these guys are ready for it and are going to step up for it,” Trittschuh said.

Like any athletes, their ultimate goal is to bring home the top prize.

“Awesome for the city of Colorado Springs, we are hoping to do well and bring home a championship,” King said.

If the Switchbacks get a win on Saturday, they are guaranteed a home game in the playoffs.
