Deputies catch man accused of threatening clerk with scissors, forcing him into freezer

PUEBLO, Colo. — Deputies have arrested a man they say threatened a clerk with scissors and forced him into a freezer during a robbery Saturday afternoon.

Deputies said the robbery happened around 3 p.m. at the Acorn Food Store at Baxter Road and Highway 96 East. The clerk told police the robber took the money in the cash register, forced the clerk into a freezer, and threatened him with a pair of scissors.

The clerk managed to free himself and call 911.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, deputies found a man matching the description of the robbery suspect in the City of Pueblo Transit Station. The man was carrying a bag that matched the one the robber had.

Deputies arrested the man, 47-year-old Gerald Dominguez. He is charged with first-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and felony menacing.

Deputies said Dominguez, who recently moved to Pueblo from California, has an extensive criminal history.
