Fire burns hundreds of acres of land

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A fire has damaged hundreds of acres of land south of Colorado Springs.

It started on a Fort Carson training range near the Pikes Peak International Raceway around 1 p.m.

Fire crews said they nearly had it contained when it had only grown to around 6 acres, but a shift in the wind caused it to spread. It has now grown to around 700 acres.

Several fire crews are working with the Ft. Carson firefighters to put it out including Fountain and the El Paso County Wildland Fire Crew.
