Police investigate string of shootings

PUEBLO, Colo. — Police are investigating two recent shootings they said could be related. In both cases, a red car was involved in a shooting with a silver BMW.

The first shooting happened Aug. 31 near the area of Ivywood Lane and Moore Ave. The second, just a few days later, close to downtown. One is dead and the other still remains in the hospital. Police are focusing more on the incident that occurred on Aug. 31, but without any leads it will be difficult to solve.

The intersection of Ivywood and Moore is located near schools, and several homes that were caught in the crossfire.

“My grandma almost got hit by the bullet. That’s kinda crazy. And that’s kinda scary with the little kids around here,” said Juan Gonzalez, a local resident.

They don’t know if the shootings are gang related and they don’t have a description of the driver, but they do know the red car has spoke rims.

“Don’t know if it’s normal for all of pueblo, but here lately it seems like it’s been normal. You just don’t go to the wrong parts of town at night, or when you think something might be going on,” said Kevin Griffith, another local resident.

Others, think this is a normal occurrence.

“I think this sort of thing happens everywhere in the world and you kind of just have to go on with your life,” said local resident Paul Rosales.

Pueblo Police are asking for help from the public to solve this case. If you know anything you can call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867.
