COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — No child left inside. That’s the goal this weekend during a national initiative; encouraging kids to get outside.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park is hosting an event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature family fun and games, along with wildlife education, live animals and more. Other activities you can participate in are archery, animal track identification, plant walks and backyard bass casting. A food vendor is available for lunch and the proceeds go to Wounded Warriors.

The event is free, but vehicles entering the park must have a daily or annual state parks pass. A daily pass can be purchased at the park for $7.

Friends of Cheyenne Mountain State Park and The USAA Foundation have teamed up to provide 90 daily Colorado State Parks passes to any active duty or retired military personnel and/or their families for this event. The passes will be available to those who have a valid military ID, on a first come, first served basis, at the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Visitor Center. Passes will become available Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

For more information, call the park at 719-576-2016.
