Traffic stop yields nearly $3,000 worth of drugs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs police say they found thousands of dollars worth of narcotics during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Officers said they pulled over a vehicle for fictitious license plates and detained the driver, 36-year-old Manuel Ramirez-Franco, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

After searching his vehicle, they said, they found heroin and cocaine packaged for distribution. The street value for the drugs is around $2,910. Ramirez-Franco also had $1,237 in cash.

He was booked into jail on several charges.
