PUEBLO, Colo. — Pueblo police are asking people to be on the lookout as a murder investigation continues.

The murder happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday close to a bus stop near Central Main Street and Grand Ave.

Police said two cars were going faster than normal in that area when one driver pulled out a gun and shot the other, killing him.

Some in Pueblo said the scariest part is the fact it happened in the middle of the day.

“It’s scary, but it’s kind of not unexpected,” said Bob Benbenuto, who lives downtown.

Police said this type of case is the hardest to solve, because of a lack of evidence. They don’t have a specific make or model for the car. They only know it’s a red two-door car with a sunroof, tinted windows, and spoked rims.

Benvenuto said he sees crime happen often, but this is by far the worst.

“Generally, Pueblo is known for not being the safest place, but it’s fairly safe, I think, but I think things like this point out that a lot still needs to be done, especially around guns and traffic laws,” said Benvenuto.

Pueblo police said the most challenging part of the case is the lack of information. They were getting tips, but they still need your help. If you know anything, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867.
