Two arrested on unrelated charges after Colorado Springs stabbing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two people were arrested on unrelated charges after someone was stabbed Wednesday evening, according to police.

Police said the stabbing happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 100-block of North 27th Street. When they arrived, officers learned the victim had been taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Police interviewed three people, including the renter of the home, someone who had run from the scene, and someone else who was walking toward the scene. The latter two were arrested on unrelated warrants.

UPDATE: Officers identified the stabbing suspect as Richard Payne, 32. He was arrested at a motel in the 2400-block of East Pikes Peak Avenue around 1:15 a.m. August 13. Payne was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a schedule two controlled substance, and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.
