YMCA hosts back-to-school summer fest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — School is just around the corner for some. Saturday, the YMCA hosted its first-ever Southeast Colorado Springs Back to School Summer Fest.

More than 100 volunteers and 40 community service organizations came together to host the event, which featured free food, entertainment, information, and vaccinations. Students could also register for schools in the Harrison D-2 district.

Despite it being the first year for the event, thousands turned out.

“This event is all about community, and the YMCA, our cause is all about strengthening the community, and we feel privileged to be a part of that today,” YMCA Executive Director Keith Bryant said.

District 2 starts school August 18.
