Two accused of making counterfeit money in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. — Two people were arrested Thursday after police found evidence of a counterfeit money operation in a motel room.

Police said Thursday morning, officers were doing a parole check at the Coronado Motel on Lake Avenue when they found what appeared to be counterfeit money, along with chemicals and other equipment.

Other officers arrived and arrested two suspects, 34-year-old Ryan Baker and 32-year-old Ross Billings. Police said Baker had a warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges, and Billings had a warrant for a parole violation.

Both will face various charges for the counterfeit money and money-making chemicals and equipment.

Pueblo police said they’ve seen an increase in counterfeit bills circulating over the past few months. Since the first of the year, 80 people have called them after finding counterfeit bills in their possession.
