Hundreds of people line the streets for the 75th Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Parade

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– The 75th Annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Parade took over downtown Tuesday night.

Despite the rain and chilly temperatures, a good crowd lined the streets to take in all the fun.

“Great equestrians, great floats, great bands, it’s just a great kick off to a wonderful rodeo,” Scott Stuart, President of the Pikes Peak or Bust Board of Directors, said.

Some parade-goers said the rain isn’t stopping them from enjoying the parade, because it’s become a family tradition.

“I’m a native here. I have been doing this all my life practically, so why quit now,” one parade watcher said.

Some kiddos even welcomed the rain, having fun playing in it.

“Pretty fun because you get to hang out with your friends and just watch and wait. The rain’s not that bad of a thing,” another parade-goer said.

Parents said they come every year just to watch their kids enjoy the festivities.

“Just watching the kids’ faces, they just light up when the horses come by with all the different floats and everything,” one Colorado Springs resident said.

But folks said this parade kicks off the best part, which is the fun rodeo events.

“People get flipped off or maybe when they rope something and take it down, that is one of my favorite things,” one parade-goer said.

“It’s them competing against the animals versus them trying to compete against everyone else, the way cowgirls and cowboys help each other instead of down everybody and just beat the other team is just a lot better,” one Colorado Springs resident said.

The rodeo events start Wednesday and go until Saturday. Some of the proceeds from the rodeo go to the local military and their families.
