Man arrested on multiple charges after shots fired report

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man was arrested on multiple charges after a shots fired report in southeastern Colorado Springs Saturday morning.

Police said the incident happened just before noon in the 4200-block of Halstead Circle, which is in the area of South Chelton Road and Jet Wing Drive. Officers were called to investigate a disturbance in which a shot had been fired. When they arrived, officers learned the suspect had gone inside a home, leaving a 2-year-old in a vehicle.

Police evacuated the toddler as well as an elderly woman. A short time later, the suspect came out of the home. Police said the suspect, 34-year-old Galen Jenkins, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant as well as several felony charges. Police said Jenkins is a convicted felon.

Officers searched Jenkins’ home and found three semi-automatic pistols, three high-powered rifles, a shotgun, and several rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines. They also found a small amount of suspected heroin.
